Where it began
Lexa and Luke met on Hinge, the dating app that Justin Barnett famously told Luke, “You’re never going to find your wife on there.” Truthfully, neither of them were using Hinge to find a life partner. Lexa was looking for a reminder that she was still single. She had just moved to downtown Richmond after spending three months in the Swiss Alps and had a date or two lined up when she got home. Stressed by this, she called one of her best friends, Olivia Johnson, who sagely advised that she download the app to remind herself that she was not marrying these men and was still very much single. She listened to the advice, Luke liked her profile, and her first message to him was “Luke where have you BEEN I’ve been looking for you!”
Luke joined Hinge, “To go on bad dates.” Lexa wasn’t much help in that area. They never had a bad date.
The two quickly fell in love and committed heinous crimes together. With Cody Zedaker as the mastermind behind the various targets they took out, we can only hope to one day pay him back for the lifetime of happiness we have ahead of us because of him.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
From then to now
Our engagement story
Knowing Lexa’s love for Monet, Luke planned to propose to her at the VMFA in front of the largest Monet they had, “Irises by the Pond.” He had visited the painting many times, imagining the day he would pop the question, thanking God for the love He gave to Lexa and Luke, and going over every possible detail that could go wrong and how he could prevent it. He covered everything in prayer and thought, it would go perfectly.
There was just one thing Luke never thought of. Jealous of Luke’s love for Lexa and knowing Luke’s epic plan, Cody stole the painting. Luke was shocked, but carried on as usual. Lexa did not understand he was proposing and tried cracking a joke during his speech; it did not land. When the pieces finally clicked into place for her, it didn’t matter that Luke was proposing in front of a blank wall. Truthfully, nothing in the world mattered at that moment, except the man down on one knee in front of her. She sunk to the ground and wordlessly said “yes.”
